Weekly Wrap-Up

President Barack Obama – August 16, 2005: “I know that everybody's getting killed by these higher gas prices, but we need to hold on to that reserve.”

President Barack Obama – August 31, 2005: “The reserve should only be used in the event of an emergency, and that we shouldn't be tapping the reserve to provide a small, short-term decrease in gas prices.”

And Obama now...

I wonder what changed his mind? Maybe news like this?

What do you think are the best explanations for President Obama’s sinking approval ratings? Give your opinions today in our new Weekly Poll...

If Chuck Schumer is talking about tax cuts, you know these must be desperate times for the Democrats...

But the Democrats’ real agenda is still tax-and-spend – and it’s good to see conservatives willing to take a stand against higher taxes.

Here’s more on “Operation Fast and Furious,” which we talked about last week: Another killing has been traced back to these government-sanctioned guns... and Investor’s Business Daily wants to know if this whole scheme was really a gun-control ploy.

On the marriage question, more of the bold leadership we've come to expect from President Obama.

According to that report, Obama "has long said that he supports same-sex civil unions, not same-sex marriage - but has repeatedly suggested that his position is evolving, which has been taken by same-sex marriage advocates as a sign that he will eventually come out in favor of same-sex marriage rights." I expect this "evolution" will be complete if Obama wins a second term and doesn't have to worry about little annoyances like voters and elections.

Have a nice weekend!

  1. Two years ago, I saw a questionnaire that Obama had filled out when he was running for the State Senate in IL. One of the questions was about his stand on same-sex marriage, and he stated that he was in full support of "Same-Sex Marriage". He did not use the term 'Same-Sex Unions' until he was running for president. So, he was "evolved" a long time ago.
