Peter Regan's heartfelt assessment of AG Eric Holden's and the Administration's decision to hold the KSM trials in civil court, is a must read. Planning has begun for a December 5 rally in New York City at Battery Park (not yet confirmed) by interested parties, The Bravest, YAF and the families of the terrorist attacks, to oppose the trials being held in NY's civil courts. As more details are available, rest assured, we will let you know. The WSJ also opines on the outrageous decision to hold a civil trial and more here.

Governor Paterson certainly never should have signed the budget passed by the legislators, and for this he deserves criticism and should shoulder the responsibility of his poor judgement. It appears that he is trying to rectify the situation and since the Legislators are not making the necessary cuts (they are considering more taxes) they should give him the ability to cut across the board. Jacob Gershman gives some insight as to why the Legislators may be reluctant in cutting back.

Under the not surprising category: Obama shatters spending record for first year president. The poll numbers are reflecting the people's displeasure of his spending.

While spending time with your families this Thanksgiving, please take a moment to thank our Veterans for all the have done to keep our families safe. Many organizations want to help our veterans but they also need our help.

Happy Thanksgiving.

The Albany politcans will be going home for Thanksgiving without resolving the budget deficits, what a surprise! They will return again on Monday, with more per-diems being paid for doing nothing. If you've received a moving violation in the last year, you know the consequences of breaking the law and more importantly you know the increas in the state surcharges.

Government deficits doing more harm on the federal level. And the housing crisis will continue to harm the economy as Thomas Sowell writes here.

John Gizzi has some insight on New York politics.

Sen. Joe Liberman digs in on the public option...(he shoud have dug in prior to Saturday's vote)

The biggest story of the day is without doubt the emails between those who would have us believe that global warming is at crisis level.

Set your VCR, TIVO or DVR's to HBO at 10:00 PM tonight for Real Sports! You won't want to miss the segment on Matt Long.

Without regard to what the people of the United States want, the 58 Democrats and 2 Independents in Congress voted to allow Senator Reid's Health Care Bill to move forward for a full debate. What a disgrace, some sold out for pork, and others just so they would have it both ways. This bill only needs 51 votes to pass the Senate now, so 9 Senators can vote no, "on principle", tell their constituents that, and hope to be re-elected. The point remains, if they had not voted on Saturday night to move the vote forward, they would have been intellectually honest. Shame on them!

In New York State, it looks like some business-minded democrats are getting fed up with the WFP. Quick, somone should tell them they will soon be just as disillusioned with the Independence Party.

More on the ACORN front.

Articles previously overlooked that certainly deserve attention here and here.

Back here in New York, Michael Goodwin is calling for the return of "Boss Tweed" which, while it is a little tounge-in-cheek, is a pathetic assessment of our Legislature. Fred Dicker writes how they "all hate each other". And if anyone thinks, AG Andrew Cuomo, is the knight in shinning armour waiting to bring New York back to its glory days, they must read this.

Weekly Wrap-Up

We had two big national stories this week.

First off, terrorism. We saw two outstanding takedowns of Attorney General Eric Holder’s absurd decision to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed in New York – one from Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and another from columnist Charles Krauthammer.

The Bush Administration saw the War on Terror as a global effort to take out the terrorists and protect America. The Obama Administration sees it as an episode of Law & Order.

And how does President Obama himself view the U.S. military?

“You guys make a pretty good photo op,” the President told a gathering of troops in South Korea.

Of course, Obama was in Asia this week. Here’s a translation website, so you can find out how Obama might say things like “I,” “I love me,” and “I’m great” in Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

The other big story: Health care.

Harry Reid has introduced the Senate version of ObamaCare – and as the Post points out, this is NOT good news for taxpayers.

Want to read it? All 2,000+ pages? FoxNews has posted it on their site. Read the whole thing, and you’ll be ahead of most Senators.

The Heritage Foundation has a look at the five major flaws of the Reid bill.

Here in New York, the Hoffman race may not be quite over...

And our state’s fiscal crisis is far from over.

Unfortunately, our elected “leaders” are following the same strategies that got us into this mess in the first place: They’re either pushing for higher taxes and more debt, or they’re just ignoring the problem and focusing on boneheaded measures like this that make government bigger and do nothing to control spending.

Even with all this bad news and frustration, we do have plenty to be grateful for. I hope that you and your family have a great weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Twice rejected by voters, yet President Obama wants to give him a lifetime appointment as a federal judge. Somebody in his inner circle has to educate the President about the fact that when people reject a candidate, they do not want that same candidate handed a lifetime appointment.

Another bad idea by this administration!

The Senate Health Care Bill is 2,074 pages and has to be read, and more importantly understood, in just 34 hours?

Both Houses have worked on the health care proposals all year, but the question remains, if passed will it be constitutional?

The NY Post Editorial has it right.

Is Rudy running for office, if so which office?

Sen. Harry Reid plans the first vote tonight (to more the bill) on the Senate version of the health care reform bill. So much for public review. The government continues to blunder payments and suffers from extreme mismanagement in agencies, yet we are to believe that health care will be different. Health Care Reform, as proposed, must be stopped; our health will not survive the mismanagement government creates at every level.

Political dissent is okay in China and not in the United States?

John Stossel makes his argument against Bill O'Reilly. Chalk this one up for Stossel.

Walter E. Williams has a very timely history lesson for us; one that we must come to terms with. Will we continue to be a country run by its people or have we already ceded to the elite?

AG Eric Holder defends the indefensible.

And Bob McManus defends our troops!

While the Working Family Party continues to harm New Yorkers.

The book tour begins for Sarah Palin who mentions the 23rd CD in her interviews.

With all of the problems in the federal government, why would anyone trust them with health care, especially when gimmicks are being used. And problems down the road. Does Congressman Weiner even know there is a problem?

And what about the Stimulus Bill in non-existent congressional districts?

Here in New York State, Bill Hammond writes of Albany's Hot Air. And the NY Post writes of job killing.

Thomas Sowell says it well once again. Cal Thomas writes of the problems in having KSM brought to New York. Larry Kudlow writes of the economic conundrum that the administration faces in China.
