Weekly Wrap-Up

We had two big national stories this week.

First off, terrorism. We saw two outstanding takedowns of Attorney General Eric Holder’s absurd decision to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed in New York – one from Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and another from columnist Charles Krauthammer.

The Bush Administration saw the War on Terror as a global effort to take out the terrorists and protect America. The Obama Administration sees it as an episode of Law & Order.

And how does President Obama himself view the U.S. military?

“You guys make a pretty good photo op,” the President told a gathering of troops in South Korea.

Of course, Obama was in Asia this week. Here’s a translation website, so you can find out how Obama might say things like “I,” “I love me,” and “I’m great” in Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

The other big story: Health care.

Harry Reid has introduced the Senate version of ObamaCare – and as the Post points out, this is NOT good news for taxpayers.

Want to read it? All 2,000+ pages? FoxNews has posted it on their site. Read the whole thing, and you’ll be ahead of most Senators.

The Heritage Foundation has a look at the five major flaws of the Reid bill.

Here in New York, the Hoffman race may not be quite over...

And our state’s fiscal crisis is far from over.

Unfortunately, our elected “leaders” are following the same strategies that got us into this mess in the first place: They’re either pushing for higher taxes and more debt, or they’re just ignoring the problem and focusing on boneheaded measures like this that make government bigger and do nothing to control spending.

Even with all this bad news and frustration, we do have plenty to be grateful for. I hope that you and your family have a great weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
