The late night comics will have a lot to say about this. All jokes aside, it is rather astonishing that a prisoner in Texas garners 40% of the vote against the incumbent President.

The Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) is rearing its ugly head again and we should be very concerned that President Obama will do all he can to get it ratified.

Hydrofracking in Texas benefits Americans.

Arthur Brooks on Earned Success ... an excellent article that should be distributed to the Occupy Wall Street crowd.

The NY Times reporter, Annie Lowry actually wrote this, and the editors left it in....how did that happen?

North Carolina voters defend marriage and President Obama is "disappointed". Guess he is waiting for his second term to be more flexible about his support of non-traditional marriage. BTW, when voters are given the opportunity to vote on the issue, they choose to keep the traditional definition of marriage as proven in the 31 states who gave the voters the opportunity.

The gift that keeps on giving.

Good question in today's Morning Bell from the Heritage Foundation. More on Sequestration here.

US Senate candidate, Wendy Long, is endorsed by Sen. Hugh Farley.

New York still getting "D's" in small business friendliness.

The NY Post on President Obama's visit to Albany, NY. While in Albany, NY President Obama said "Now, we know the true engine of job creation in this country is the private sector—it's not Washington,"... too bad what he said was just has campaign rhetoric to try and fool us. If you truly believe what you said yesterday, Mr. President, what was all that stimulus spending about? Give us back our tax dollars, get government out of the way and let America be AMERICA!

This statement by VP Biden crosses the line...not his normal "foot in mouth" problem...it is a glimpse into this administration's thoughts.

The female version of VP Biden prone to exaggerating the facts.

Socialism Rises Again in Europe. More on the votes cast in Europe this past weekend. And, how the Stock Market is reacting and what it means. The NY Post Editorial shares our concerns.

Will Congress curtail the fastest growing government welfare program?

Pregnant and plan on visiting the White House, you must include your unborn child as a visitor. This from the same administration that seeks to force religious institutions to provide abortion coverage to women. The irony is astounding.

North Carolina gets it right on two counts; letting the people decide and trending to reaffirm the definition of marriage.

Oh my, Nanny State government back with a vengeance. How long will it be before Michelle Obama asks for an Executive Order to combat obesity?

More from the Heritage Foundation on Julia "The conservative vision for Julia’s future is one that empowers her as an individual — not one that pegs her successes to the expansion of the federal government."

School Board Elections will be held May 15 throughout New York State, watch this video, and send it to your family and friends before you vote for school board members. Ask the people vying to be on the School Board if they are independent thinkers who will truly fight for our children or if they are running to support the teachers' union.

US Senate Candidate, Wendy Long, calls on President Obama to support DOMA and leave the issue of marriage to the states. Is VP Biden speaking for himself or does he what to know the reaction of the trial balloon?

Latest job report is not what the President wants to acknowledge, yet it is his, the economy belongs to his administration. It's all about the numbers. Should the unemployment rate really be 8.3%? Or is it even higher? This chart makes it clear: no matter how the President spins the jobs numbers, we need more real jobs.

What will this do to the cost of your prescription/health insurance?

Did you know that Americans pay more for taxes than food, clothing and shelter?

We can't help but wonder what Greece and France constituents will end up paying under their new leadership and who will be left to pay the exorbitant taxes they will need to collect to pay for the benefits promised. Will Germany end up in the same boat? Reaction to vote in the Asian Stock Market.

Weekly Wrap-Up

This week we met Julia – the Obama Campaign’s virtual poster girl for Big Government. You can watch the slideshow here, and marvel at the inalienable rights given to Julia by her creator, Barack Obama.

As John Podhoretz points out, the Obama campaign’s message is “that women need government programs from cradle to grave if they want to have a productive life.”

The Heritage Foundation offers “A Better Life for Julia.”

In Human Events, David Harsanyi tags the government dependence Julia represents as “implicitlyun-American, in the sense that it celebrates a mindset we have -- outwardly, at least -- shunned.”

Here’s hoping that the American people continue to shun this welfare-state liberalism on November 6th.

As you can see from this outstanding interview we posted earlier in the week, there’s a top-notch candidate for the U.S. Senate who shuns Big Government: Wendy Long, who continues to build momentum and gain support from New York conservatives.

Wendy Long spoke with National Review about her vision for “a federal government that is smaller, less intrusive, and less burdensome to Americans in their daily lives, but also more vigorous in protecting America and her interests in the world.”

She cites a number of issues where Gillibrand has gone against the interests of New Yorkers – everything from ObamaCare and abortion-on-demand to taxes and deficit spending to foreign policy and national security. Which of Gillibrand’s left-wing views do you find most objectionable? That’s the question in our new Weekly Poll. Make sure to cast your vote.

This week we also saw our President giving our enemies too much information and taking too much credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden...

... acting as “Divider-in-Chief” and continuing to campaign on the taxpayers’ dime...

...and abandoninga courageous Chinese dissident in the hopes (according to Hillary Clinton) that the Chinese Communists who placed him under house arrest in the first place will now be nice and handle his paperwork quickly so he and his family can leave the country...

Obama will need all the Julias he can conjure up to overcome his abysmal record.

Have a great weekend.

In case you missed this, US Senate candidate, Wendy Long, says no bending on taxes. LI Politics.com still has its poll on your choice for US Senate up, if you haven't voted yet, please do so now.

You don't need a crystal ball to know how New York's Senators will vote on this manifestly unfair piece of legislation, all the more reason to elect Wendy Long!

NY's Court of Appeals upholds the 63rd Senate Seat.

Kudos to Texas, alas New York is 49th, only ahead of California in this year's list of best places to do business.

Be prepared to pay more and have less people working if the Governor and the Legislature force businesses to pay a higher minimum wage. More on why raising the minimum wage is bad business from Assembly Republican Leader Brian Kolb.

Can the USPS be fixed? Heritage Foundation explains it can be, if government gets out of the way.

E. J. McMahon explains that the biggest cost in education is state mandates. Education is not the only area where state mandates are a problem, this article explains what happens when government mandates that localities provide a service and doesn't pay for it and what can be done....Constituents must speak out.

The Ninth Circuit Court gets a case right. The ultra liberal court actually dismissed Jose Padilla's civil law suit but not without a swipe at John Yoo.

But will HHS Secretary Sebelius listen?

Freddie Mac back for more of your money....this, unfortunately, they will listen to.

Which would you prefer: Australia or America's retirement system?

Have car, will travel (as long as you work for the government).

Our US Senate candidate, Wendy Long, picks up another endorsement and gives a great interview in National Review Online.

Have you voted for Wendy Long in this poll yet?Link
Heritage Foundation reminds us that while OBL is dead, the mission goes on. While the mission goes on, defense spending plummets under President Obama.

It continues to amaze me what is hidden in bills passed and signed into law by President Obama. We learned reams about Obamacare after signed into law, now this report in the LA Times about the Dodd-Frank Bill.

We've been saying this since we were formed, its time for elected officials to finally cut spending!

What is going on with the government data on jobs?

The November elections will be a plebiscite on the definition of America.

Great commentary by Andrew Malcolm.
