The predominate news this week has centered on the BP Oil leak devastating the Gulf Coast and highlighting the Presidents lack of leadership . It took him 52 days to meet with the families of the 11 men killed in the explosion, his golf games and music celebrations ere obviously more important.
The meeting with experts to find out who to blame is contrary to what the President told graduating students ...but why should that surprise any of us, as he used “double-speak” to get elected.
Investor’s Business Daily hits the target with this “It isn't often that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says something right, but when he calls the latest round of economic sanctions from the United Nations Security Council "the same as pesky flies," he's hit the target like one of his Sejil surface-to-surface missiles.” Charles Krauthammer agrees.
Our debt continues along the path of Greece according to all reports and expressed by Congressman Eric Cantor recently.
New York’s budget is not resolved and apparently, the Democrats who are in total control of New York State are looking to borrow again! The deficit is real and spending must be cut across the board. Even if the national economy turns around (which is not likely to happen soon) New York will not be able to recover if its spending is not severely curtailed, so New York’s Legislators must make the necessary cuts now. A temporary shutdown is being discussed but without permanent spending cuts, New York will face far more that a temporary shutdown.
New York’s budget is not the only controversy this week. The Empire State Building is refusing to honor Mother Teresa’s 100 birthday on August 26. They also refused to honor the Marine Corps in 2008. Do they realize that their freedom to do so is a result of the sacrifices made by untold numbers of Marines. With so many serious problems in this world, doesn't it make sense to honor those who have made our lives better? Certainly the Marines have and Mother Teresa, in her devotion to the poor, the sick and the dying made the world more aware of the need for care for those less fortunate. A lesson that has faded somewhat since her passing and could be rekindled with the Empire State Building changing its mind.
Have a great weekend.

Our message is being heard and understood around the country. When will New York's government follow suit?
Abortion on Base. "This is another example of a stealth measure that has become a commonplace tactic in a Democratic Congress bent on sneaking through unpopular legislation."
"Only in the Obama administration would a public official sanctioned for a form of malfeasance be honored as a speaker by the same organization that sanctioned him."
Kagan's threat to gun owners.
How the White House is making oil recovery harder. Drilling moratorium is a jobs moratorium.
Karl Rove on "voting present".
Isn't this interesting...
Are homeless being counted twice?
George Will has some thoughts on the economy.

New York needs two new U. S. Senators and Jay Townsend is the candidate for Chuck's seat. Let's retire Chuckie and Harry Reid. Labor is losing its influence so the possibility to retire both of them is real! Chuckie thinks this won't hurt NY.
Shame on Reuters. Let's hope they didn't "doctor" any of this...or if they did that they did not low-ball the numbers as they are astronomical. Bernanke warns of debt crisis. And our President is about to add more!
Dorothy Rabinowitz on the Alien in the White House.
Misguided spending and ObamaCare back in the news.
Stephen Moore on New York's finances.
DeRoy Murdock on funding terrorist by increasing tobacco taxes!
And Thomas Sowell with some random thougts.

Finally Helen Thomas does the right thing!
Another down day for the Dow. Guess Wall Street does not believe in Friday's job numbers.
Fred Barns makes an interesting case for Mr. Obama, but he leaves out the fact that President Obama is a committed liberal himself so his conclusion that a Pelosi loss helps him may not be correct. (Unless, of course, the President will do anything to be re-elected...)
If the President keeps doing things like this and this, I doubt any thing he says will help him.
Another bad move by the President.
Elena Kagan, the President's choice for the U S Supreme Court, on partial birth abortion and affirmative action.
Michael Goodwin on the President.
In case you missed Friday's Krauthhammer's column.
The Democrats are afraid of their constituents?
Port Authority or is it Pork Authority?

Weekly Wrap-Up
“I’d do it again to save lives,” President George W. Bush said this week when asked about waterboarding terrorists.
Remember those billboards that started popping up across the country, with a picture of President George W. Bush and the tagline: “Miss me yet?”
This certainly makes me miss our 43rd President. I didn’t agree with him on every issue, but he’s a good man and a good leader.
In contrast: Let’s look at what we’ve gotten this week from our current President and his cronies in Congress...
First off: Out-of-control spending and an unprecedented $13 trillion in debt.
According to The Washington Times: “At $13 trillion, that figure has risen by $2.4 trillion in about 500 days since President Obama took office, or an average of $4.9 billion a day.”
Just how bad is unchecked federal spending? The Heritage Foundation has an alarming new report.
The Obama Administration has also given us a strange and very narrow definition of “job creation” in Pennsylvania and Colorado.
More bad news: Our “leaders” in Albany are following the President’s lead by giving us new taxes – I mean, “fees” – and an even bigger deficit. Who would have thought that basing the state’s budget on money that didn’t exist might turn out to be a bad idea?
But don’t expect any deficit to change politics-as-usual in Albany.
When it comes to spending too much, raising taxes too high and using our tax dollars to reward their friends and political allies, make no mistake: The liberals will do it again.

Now, on to victory in November!
The GOP still has to complete its convention tomorrow, but today we relish the fact that, as Maggie Hagerman of Politico wrote in her winners and losers column under winners: "Mike Long, The long-serving Conservative Party chairman set the table for Lazio by putting his convention ahead of the Republicans, and his bet paid off."
Rick Lazio after becoming the designated gubernatorial GOP candidate: Andrew Cuomo is not the answer!
Alaska's Governor, Sean Parnell, on the Oil Spill.
The Heritage Foundation on Obamacare's true costs.
Some want restrictions on new federal ethics disclosure.
Every one's too busy?
More people than ever want to be a part of Congress.
Newt on the new culture war and how we are losing it.
More bad news for New Yorkers. Help is on the way!

We are back and blogging again after a successful convention in New York City that designated Rick A. Lazio as our candidate for Governor of NY, Greg Edwards as our candidate for Lt. Gov., Harry J. Wilson as our candidate for Comptroller, Daniel M. Donovan, Jr., as our candidate for Attorney General, Joe DioGuardi as our candidate to run against Kirsten Gillibrand and Jay Townsend as our candidate to run against Charles Schumer. Congratulations to all our designated candidates!!
What is going on in the Republican convention? The Republican State Chairman wants to create a third party? Wonder how other Republican State Chairman will react to that. Here is how Chairman Long reacted!
Can you say "dead man walking"?
Rick Lazio explains that what voters want is someone who's going to stick up for the average common taxpayer, who will do the right thing, as we did the right thing in authorizing his run on our line.
President Obama and his administration may want to believe that they have no responsibility regarding the Deepwater Horizon explosion that took 11 lives and created the worst oil spill in our modern history, but this article tells a different aspect.
Fox News has reported on a half dozen or more people that have ways to help in the Gulf, but the federal government calls on a director? Just because he films underwater, does not make him an expert on how to contain the problem or clean the water.
Words of wisdom from the NY Post Editorial and Frank Gaffney's two cents.
Will Unions need a bailout? Maybe this is why.
