The Wall Street Journal has the details, or lack thereof: “Democrats are working on their own plan for Medicare reform, said Mr. Schumer, who was mum on the details.”
Imagine that – a question that puts Chuck Schumer’s mouth in shutdown mode.
Liberals and radical “green” activists want to shut down hydrofracking as a way to boost New York’s economy, create jobs and access important supplies of natural gas. The Conservative Party is weighing in on the benefits of hydrofracking.

The President believes "I shouldn’t have to oversee a process in which Congress deals with last year’s budget where we only have six months left – especially when both parties have agreed that we need to make substantial cuts and we’re more or less at the same number." Is this the leadership we expect from the protector of the free world? How pathetic!
Now just wait one minute, Mr. President....didn't you say the exact opposite when it came to Obamacare?

Weekly Wrap-Up
That is a step in the right direction – especially since the new budget adheres to the Conservative Party’s calls for spending restraint and fiscal responsibility. But there’s plenty of work that still needs to be done.
A top priority now must be mandate relief – lifting costly mandates on local governments. This is essential to getting taxes under control and easing the burden on New York taxpayers.
Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks explains the need for this reform – the sooner the better.
Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos is also highlighting the need for mandate relief (and The New York Post offers comic relief with the clever headline)...
Mandate relief, as explained in a Post article earlier this month, would “unshackle cities, towns, counties and school districts from costly state-imposed requirements” and is essential to “giving local governments the flexibility to spend their money as they see best.”
What do you think? Do you want Gov. Cuomo and lawmakers in Albany to implement mandate relief and give localities more flexibility in how to use the taxpayers’ money and give tax relief to New Yorkers? Vote today in our new weekly poll.
Maybe Chuck Schumer and the Democrats in Washington could take a cue from their fellow liberal Andrew Cuomo and get serious about cutting spending? (And of course, it’s a lesson plenty of Republicans need as well.)
Have a great weekend!
