Weekly Wrap-Up

Here are the voting machines you’ll be seeing this Tuesday...

New technology is great, but there is a problem: As Working Families Party Executive Director Dan Cantor and I note in today’s New York Daily News, these new machines favor the political establishment. You can find all the details here...

So vote carefully, and make sure to cast your vote ONLY on the Conservative Party line (Line D).

The New York Post encourages all New Yorkers to use our new voting machines to “Dump DiNapoli” – and I couldn’t agree more...

Who’s afraid of Marco Rubio? Bill Clinton and the Democrats, that’s who. More evidence they’re getting desperate...

In fact, we’re seeing that desperation all across the country...

And even from our hope-filled President...

Here you’ll find Charles Krauthammer’s outstanding analysis of this Democratic desperation...

It’s pretty much a given at this point that Republicans will take back control of the U.S. House of Representatives – but the Senate is still too close to call. Want to make a prediction? Vote in our Weekly Poll, which this week will run only through Tuesday night (we’ll post another one Wednesday morning.)

As Election Day nears, there’s a growing concern across the nation about voter fraud – and the Democrats are quick to dismiss those concerns as a conservative effort at “voter intimidation.”

And as we all know, the Democrats will not tolerate any voter intimidation at all – right?

Have a great weekend!

The Heritage Foundation has an excellent article on "The Obama War on Science"

The WSJ reaffirms that we are a center right country.

The Gallup Poll's predictions: still good for GOP. Human Events writes about with sinking poll numbers, Democrats sink down in the political gutter. An example in New York is highlighted in a NY Daily News editorial. Unfortunately, Congressman McMahon is not the only one who disgraces the office he holds, voters would be wise to retire him and elect a man they can be proud of, Michael Grimm.

The NY Post editorial calls Senator Schneiderman "Senator sleaze" rightfully so. Let's not let him become our next attorney general when we have a great candidate: Dan Donovan.

Thanks to New Yorkers for Growth for distributing this article. These are some the "benefits" that are bankrupting taxpayers and must end.

If you missed Carl Paladino on NY1 last night, you can view the interview here.

Part III of Brass Oldies by Thomas Sowell.

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Not a big surprise here, many who have paid these taxes have fled New York, forcing the rest of us to pay even more. The full report is here. You can make a difference on November 2, vote on the Conservative Party line.

Interesting how one of the legislators who voted to increase our taxes, uses a loophole to reduce his: shame on you Mr. Schneiderman! He now says he is going to donate $900 to a provider of domestic violence counseling... will he get to deduct that as a charitable contribution? Just asking... We need to elect Dan Donovan, a district attorney, not involved with any of the ongoing corruption in Albany as Attorney General.

Also time to retire Tom DiNapoli...the NY Daily News' editorial slams Mr. DiNapoli for not providing his official comptroller schedules to our comptroller candidate, Harry Wilson.

Tired of the corruption....you can make a difference next Tuesday. Vote on the Conservative Party line.

The WSJ writes about the two items on the NYC ballot -- Term Limits - Vote Yes and Campaign Reform - Vote No (too much government control).

New York City (and the rest of the State) must be prepared for voter problems, just yesterday the Executive Director of the NYC Board of Elections was fired. Be patient when you go to vote and if you have the time on election day, contact your county chairman and offer to be a poll watcher. With more people to watch over the voting process, the quicker we will be able to prevent voter fraud and problems. Michele Malkin writes about voter fraud and can you believe what the 9th Circuit did to Arizona's law requiring citizenship?

Part two of Brass Oldies.

A very powerful TV ad by Citizens Against Government Waste.

Two states with early voting are already having problems. Be prepared next Tuesday in New York, since Nevada and North Carolina are not new to electronic machines, know who you want to vote for and look at the sample ballots to be certain your candidates are listed.

Another problem with the new machines will be the counting of votes for the "minor" parties. Please be certain that your vote is cast on the Conservative Party line before you leave the machine.

In New York City, voters will be asked to vote on term limits once again! This is the third time the question has been on the NYC ballot and we are certain that this will be the third time it passes overwhelmingly.

Rich Lowry on who is really trying to buy the elections.

Another comptroller making very bad decisions. Will New Yorkers ignore the fact that DiNapoli is abusing his position to help a political activist in the same manner they chose to ignore the previous comptroller until he was forced to resign? Remember it was just four years ago that the Hevesi scandal first broke right before the elections and yet voters returned him to office...voters are the only true means of bringing about reforms...if the same misguided people are put back in office, reform will never be achieved. In Rich Lowry's piece above, it talks about AFSCME and other public unions, candidates who run with their endorsements will never be able to truly bring the reforms needed to create jobs, cut spending thereby cutting taxes in New York.

Sometimes even the NY Post editorial even gets it right.

The Heritage Foundation on returning the People's House to the People. DioGuardi on "Unaccountable Congress"

Tuesday's bring another column by Thomas Sowell.

For those of you who missed it, the debate between Jay Townsend and Chuck Schumer may be viewed here. Trust us; you really want to watch this one.

We will try to get the video of the debate between Dan Donovan and Eric Schneiderman, another debate you should be aware of since Senator Schneiderman was an integral part of the NYS Senate leadership these past two years. DA Donovan has not been part of any of the corruption that permeates the legislature and has proven his integrity time and time again while Sen. Schneiderman has proven he goes along to get along. The question becomes, how does someone who is ignorant of what is going on while in the thick of things (if we believe the Senator) take the necessary steps to eliminate corruption? Only one choice in this race: Dan Donovan!

Acorn is alive and well, unfortunately for all of us.

Let George pay for all of it.

More on the Fannie and Freddie saga.

British spending cuts are necessary and needed and should be emulated by the US before it is too late and the NY Post Editorial makes it clear that is what this election is about. Jonah Goldberg asks the obvious question. National Review believes there is hope. But the Deficit Panel may target key tax breaks.

Hope you had the chance to see Sen. Thune at our 2010 fundraiser, he certainly has become a rising conservative star.

Have you seen our new TV ad?

Weekly Wrap-Up

We’ve released the Conservative Party’s ratings for the 2010 legislative session, in order to keep New Yorkers informed on how our elected representatives voted on 25 key bills this year.

You can find the Assembly Ratings here, and the Senate Ratings here.

For a look at the Assembly bills we used for the ratings, check here. For the Senate, the bills are listed here.

Our goal with these ratings is to give taxpayers a close look of how elected officials spend our money and try to shape our society. We’re the only group in New York that offers such a comprehensive look at our legislators’ actions on such a broad range of issues. I hope you will share this information with your friends and family.

I hope you’ll give your opinion, too, in our Weekly Poll: Do you believe our elected leaders in Albany are truly leading and representing your views and values in the votes they cast? Please cast your vote today!

Taxpayer-funded National Public Radio seems to have its own ratings system, by which Juan Williams is shown the door for saying something that’s not even controversial to most people (his greatest crime seems to be saying what he said on FOX News), whereas Nina Totenberg gets a free ride after making any number of hyper-partisan, controversial and downright sickening claims, including wishing the AIDS virus on the late Sen. Jesse Helms and his family.

Many conservatives are now calling for an end to NPR’s taxpayer funding.

I believe this calls for a bonus poll question: Do you think NPR is the best use of your tax dollars? Vote today!

So how does President Obama rate the American people? He’s none too fond of us, it seems, at least those of us who don’t worshipfully support his agenda. Explaining the liberals’ looming Election Day losses, the President says his side is losing because people like you and me are overwhelmed by fear and frustration, and can’t “think clearly.” We just be dumb, I guessing.

Charles Krauthammer has a typically insightful analysis of this latest Obama arrogance.

I think clearly enough to quote the Declaration of Independence correctly, which is more than anyone can say for our President, who has once again omitted two important words – “their Creator” – when quoting America’s founding document. Maybe he was afraid or frustrated, and not thinking clearly?

Did you know you can get a free Pocket Constitution from The Heritage Foundation? Here is the link. If President Obama was thinking clearly, he would sign up for one.

Have a great weekend!

The Democratic controlled Senate, Assembly Speaker Silver and Governor Paterson cannot be pleased with the NYS Inspector General Report on the fiasco that selected AEG to run the VLT's at Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens. The IG has forwarded its report to prosecutors and ethics panels, but the best way for New York's citizens to effect changing how things are accomplished in Albany is to vote on November 2. Many officials are named in the report in addition to Senator Joseph Addabbo and Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer (both represent the area in Queens where Aqueduct is located) and before you vote you should, at the very least, read the Press Release by the IG office, if not the whole report. More on the scathing report here and here.

Why is it that the liberal left always preach tolerance, yet never practice it?

Absolutely necessary to do, but we all know the extension of the Bush tax cuts should be number 1 priority.

Fannie and Freddie may double in size. More on Fannie and Freddie from the WSJ. And Thomas Sowell on Is Barney Frank

Things you need to know courtesy of Jay Townsend, important to view before you vote.

Dan Henninger on the NYS Comptroller's race. And Larry Kudlow on Tim Geithner.

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

What was missing in President Obama's address in Rockville, Md., on Monday evening? According to the Heritage Foundation, this is the third time in a little over a month that he omitted the words "by their Creator". Mr. President, stop revising the words and beliefs of our Founding Fathers!

Another reason not to rush into Obama's green technology.

Did you know that Britain and France both have a marginal tax rate of 50% and are still unable to sustain their spending? France's public pension system is facing a $45 billion shortfall and there is rioting in the streets because changes are necessary in order to survive and Britain is slashing 500,000 jobs in an effort to bring stability to their economy. Yet, we have a President and Congress that seeks to make America like Europe. In less than two weeks, we can take control of our Congress back and save America.

The RNC provides a review of what has been spent of Obama and Congress. We must end the outrageous spending on November 2.

Jonah Goldberg gives us more reasons to end the liberal thought process permeating Congress.

Are you aware that NY city residents have two propositions on the ballot? Watch this short video before you vote on election day.

Monday, October 18, 2010

The pundits are all over the place with predictions for the national elections. Check out here, here, and here. In the NY Times Magazine article, you get the impression that President Obama wants to work with us, then he goes out on the campaign trail and demonizes republicans, then he wonders why voters don't trust him.

Two weeks before election day and they are trying to buy the senior citizen vote for $250.

The Daily News Editorial sounds like they read our legislative memo on the easing of the Rockefeller Drug Laws, it is unfortunate for all New Yorkers that legislators didn't heed our predictions.

Harry Wilson gets NY Daily News endorsement.

Jay Townsend is covered in the Staten Island Advance

And E. J. McMahon on tonight's gubernatorial debate

Wrap-Up

Campaign season is in full swing, and the politicians are desperate to keep their jobs – but we still have to be on the lookout for elected “leaders” who either aren’t running for reelection, or who don’t face any competition at the ballot box.

That unaccountability is what gives us new “fees” (political speak for higher taxes) like the ones imposed on ALL New Yorkers to bailout the City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) – including new fees on licenses, cars and trucks.

A friend passed along the flyer below, which was found at a county DMV office.

Is the DMV behind this effort to expose all these new fees? Probably not, but at last report they haven’t removed the fliers either. Whoever is behind it, I applaud them for standing up for taxpayers. I certainly consider myself outraged over these new MTA-bailout fees.

What do you think? Are you happy to pay higher taxes to give the MTA bureaucrats in New York City more money to spend? Vote today in our new Weekly Poll.

These new fees are bad news for all taxpayers if you ask me – but fortunately, conservatives are getting more and more good news as we get closer to Election Day.

Legal challenges to Obamacare can proceed, thanks to a sensible ruling yesterday by a judge in Florida. Betsy McCaughey has the details here.

Conservatives seem poised for impressive wins in key Senate races in Pennsylvania and Florida.
Conservatives are doing well in mid-west “bellweather” states like Ohio.

Even liberal attack dog Barney Frank is getting a decent challenge and being held accountable to voters.

And Nancy Pelosi is as oblivious as ever.

Oh, and the Washington Post is kindly reporting that maybe Tea Partiers aren’t a bunch of racists, after all.

Have a great weekend!

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Applications for jobless benefits rise to 426,000, and it is no surprise when we have job-killing politicians and an administration that has its own war on jobs.

File this under chutzpah.

Is the President really blind to the baggage that Thomas E. Donilon carries? Donilon was the registered lobbyist for Fannie Mae from 1999 to 2005, we are all aware of the relationship of Fannie Mae and HUD and the financial fiasco caused by the housing meltdown despite the fact that the principles involved insisted Fannie and Freddie were on solid financial ground. Donilon now becomes our National Security Advisor? Is he kidding? Apparently not, but every American should find his appointment very unsettling.

Almost as unsettling as this article explaining how Andrew Cuomo failed to clean up the fraud and wasteful mismanagement during his tenure at HUD. Andrew Cuomo, with his Working Families Party endorsement...a political organization that demands distribution of wealth....will make certain that nothing changes in New York State despite the claims that he is leading the charge to "clean up the dysfunction in Albany". If he cleans up Albany the same way he cleaned up HUD, the citizens of New York will be faced with unprecedented fiscal chaos. Remember what Michael Goodwin said.... a tiger does not change his stripes.

E. J. McMahon writes about New York's unfunded pensions. Can't help but wonder how the Working Families Party and Andrew Cuomo will solve this dilemma.

The Daily News doesn't like DiNapoli's weasel campaign, the NY Post Editorial doesn't like Scott Murphy's support of Pelosi, and the WSJ criticizes Sen. Schumer for not debating republican/conservative candidate Jay Townsend. All good news for our candidates.

Unfortunately for the students in Washington, DC, Michelle Rhee is looking for a new job. Ms. Rhee should submit her resume to the successful gubernatorial candidate on November 3 and we all know only one of the potential candidates would accept it. Chancellor Merryl H. Tisch, isn't it time for your retirement?

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

With so much news about unemployment and taxes, some good news is most welcome: the rescued miners are an example of the good that occurs when nations work together and an overwhelming faith in God.

The New York Post Editorial rightfully slams Sen. Stewart-Cousins and Assemblyman Kavanagh for legislation they sponsored which will cost taxpayers billions of dollars. Both are identified as Democrats and called stalwarts of the Working Families Party, they are, and this legislation is exactly what the Working Families Party demands. So my question to every New York Citizen is this: How will Albany ever change its thinking if Andrew Cuomo, both a democrat and endorsed by the Working Families Party, is elected? Answer: It won't. Will the NY Post Editorial acknowledge that fact? Doubt it. They seem to be drinking the Cuomo Kool-Aid.

Interesting article by Michael Goodwin on Andrew Cuomo earning his "reformer" label. He at least questions if Andrew Cuomo will be able to deliver what he promises....personally his promises are not enough...in the second part of his article on Hillary Clinton, be begins with
"Rule No. 1 is that a tiger does not change its stripes, which brings us to Hillary Rodham Clinton" Well, Mr. Goodwin, if a tiger doesn't change its stripes, do you believe Andrew Cuomo will? Doubt it, he could have rejected the Working Families Party line.....but he didn't.

Even if all four suggestions are adopted by New York, we would still have a shortfall, but there is some good advice from four Governors who have cut their state budgets.

The Heritage Foundation is cautious on the lifting of the offshore drilling ban.

Congressman Barney Frank may be in trouble, again.

Government Greed, a must read by Thomas Sowell

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Sen. Al D'Amato speaks out on having Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network having an annex in the Office of the Attorney General as proposed by Eric Schneiderman. After you read the article, we are certain that you will agree with us and Sen. D'Amato that this is the epitome of a very bad idea.

According the WSJ spending is up a whopping 21.4% in just two years! No wonder Pelosi and Company went home without passing a budget or making the Bush tax cuts permanent. The Heritage Foundation lets us know how this will effect us and so does FOX. If conservative republicans do not take control of Congress back in just 3 short weeks, we may be subjected to the DISCLOSE Act among other nefarious pieces of legislation.

More bad news for taxpayers.

Conservative Republican, Joe DioGuardi, is the "energizer bunny", traveling all over New York State meeting and greeting everyone he can. He is eager to cut spending in Washington, DC, thereby helping each and every New Yorker. Make your voice heard on November 2, elect one of us, Joe DioGuardi. He will be attending our event on the 19th of October, and would like to talk to you, but he can't do that if you haven't made your reservation yet....One week from today....Hope to see you there.

This never would have happened if government had its way with frozen embryos.

It is Thomas Sowell Day.

Weekly Wrap Up

For the most part, the news was not good for New Yorkers this week.

But if your name is Congressman Charlie Rangel, you were happy to learn that your ethics hearings will not take place until November 15. Mr. Rangel supposedly wanted them before the election, but I believe he may be secretly happy that they will not begin until after the elections.

Conservative Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe DioGuardi has a good profile here and according to recent polls his race could be a lot closer than Senator Gillibrand would like. Debates between the two will be on October 15 and October 21.

Speaking of debates, Carl Paladino will debate Andrew Cuomo and all of the other candidates on October 18 at Hofstra University.

Government spending at the federal level increased by 9% in fiscal 2010. Certainly not good news for all of us. And couple that news with the news, according to Gallup that the real unemployment numbers are at 10.1% for the month of September; leaving 61 % of people believing that the country is not moving in the right direction. For New Yorkers the news was even more depressing. For the first time in 70 years, (since the real depression), citizens’ income has declined. In 2009 alone, personal income dropped by 6.8%, which, according to the article, impacts every other aspect of our lives. Unfortunately, New York’s elected officials have caused many of the problems by their out of control spending.

The grim report indicates NY citizens experienced a sharp decline in their income. Job growth is weak and the future of New Yorkers is at its lowest peak in decades. This week’s poll question wants to know if our elected officials have learned anything from their grave mistakes. If you don’t think they have, you will be able to make your voice heard loud and clear on November 2.

The beautiful fall weather, with the leaves almost at peak, will give us a slight reprieve from the bad news all over the newspapers this week. Enjoy the weekend!

Thursday, October 7, 2010

It took Andrew Cuomo four years to get Hevesi to plead guilty? Four years and he wants Kudos? Are you kidding? We cannot afford to wait four years for change...and with articles like this, who truly believes he will? His alliance with the Working Families Party indicates nothing will change! There was no reason at all for him to accept the Working Families Party line, they had a candidate, albeit a sham candidate to hold the line for him and what about the Independence Party, aren't they under investigation also? Yup, anyone foolish enough to believe Andrew Cuomo will clean up Albany, needs to acknowledge that they are perfectly happy with Albany's dysfunction.

More bad news regarding funding in localities. And more bad news for those of us who understand how much it costs taxpayers for public employee benefits.

Peggy Noonan and negative political ads.

Please help me understand this...Andrew Cuomo is running on a platform of changing the environment in Albany, yet he coordinates the campaign with everyone else that is running, including the leaders of the Legislature? Please, someone has to explain to me how you bring about ending the dysfunction when you coordinate campaigns. Really, Andrew, how dumb do you think we are?

Wonder if Assemblyman Vito Lopez was helping to coordinate campaigns...or is he just plotting his own reelection?

Good News for Joe DioGuardi in his Senate Race.

The Mayor of NYC doesn't like the TEA Party, is it because you cannot control them Mr. Mayor? Or is it because they are people who reject your Nanny State mentality? Another interesting story about NYC in the NY Post over the weekend. The article says it is the Mayor behind this move, yet Fox News ran a story on it and said it was an idea from Washington, DC. Either way, it is a colossal waste of tax dollars! Mr. Mayor what is your opinion on this proposal from the City Council.... another birdbrain idea you would support?

Birds of feather, flock togetherand here. More questions for Assemblyman Lopez, doubt if the Assemblyman will answer any of them...considering the photos in the previous link, the Assemblyman may believe he is above the law.

Weekly Wrap-Up

This week conservatives are talking taxes and spending on the campaign trail...

Meanwhile in Washington, Congress couldn’t bother to pass a budget or stop tax increases...

... but Chuck Schumer found time to focus on truly important matters, like the volume on TV commercials.

Loud TV commercials can be annoying, but is this really the most urgent crisis facing America right now?

The Washington Times discusses Schumer’s reinvention as a tax cutter (as long taxpayers aren’t too successful).

Fortunately there’s a bipartisan consensus building around serious tax relief.

The Heritage Foundation has released a report on the impact of the Obama tax hikes. The numbers are alarming.

And when it comes to how our tax dollars are spent, thank goodness Sen. Tom Coburn is willing to hold the federal government and his colleagues in Congress accountable. His latest target in the battle against wasteful spending? “School House Pork.”

Rahm Emanuel has left the White House so he can run for Mayor of Chicago.

How do you think this will change things at the White House? Give your opinion today in our Weekly Poll.

Have a great weekend!
