Wrap-Up

Campaign season is in full swing, and the politicians are desperate to keep their jobs – but we still have to be on the lookout for elected “leaders” who either aren’t running for reelection, or who don’t face any competition at the ballot box.

That unaccountability is what gives us new “fees” (political speak for higher taxes) like the ones imposed on ALL New Yorkers to bailout the City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) – including new fees on licenses, cars and trucks.

A friend passed along the flyer below, which was found at a county DMV office.

Is the DMV behind this effort to expose all these new fees? Probably not, but at last report they haven’t removed the fliers either. Whoever is behind it, I applaud them for standing up for taxpayers. I certainly consider myself outraged over these new MTA-bailout fees.

What do you think? Are you happy to pay higher taxes to give the MTA bureaucrats in New York City more money to spend? Vote today in our new Weekly Poll.

These new fees are bad news for all taxpayers if you ask me – but fortunately, conservatives are getting more and more good news as we get closer to Election Day.

Legal challenges to Obamacare can proceed, thanks to a sensible ruling yesterday by a judge in Florida. Betsy McCaughey has the details here.

Conservatives seem poised for impressive wins in key Senate races in Pennsylvania and Florida.
Conservatives are doing well in mid-west “bellweather” states like Ohio.

Even liberal attack dog Barney Frank is getting a decent challenge and being held accountable to voters.

And Nancy Pelosi is as oblivious as ever.

Oh, and the Washington Post is kindly reporting that maybe Tea Partiers aren’t a bunch of racists, after all.

Have a great weekend!
