The President and the Conservative Party certainly do not see "eye to eye" on most topics and his commence speech at Notre Dame on Sunday (the sound bites that I heard) did not bring us closer together. When a man who is as committed to taking the lives of innocent unborn children as he is, says "So let us work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions, let's reduce unintended pregnancies..." all I can think of is giving emergency contraception pills to young women without a physician's or more importantly without a parents' consent. When he says: "Let's make adoption more available" ... I ask myself to whom...to traditional families or to whose who seek to change the definition of marriage?
But it is said that President Obama listens to the opposing view and in the case of Guantanamo Bay perhaps his reversal is the result of listening to the American people. Let's hope so. http://www.nypost.com/seven/05182009/postopinion/editorials/a_welcome_flip_flopper_169778.htm
Maybe someday he will see abortion the way we see abortion. How can men and women who call themselves believers in their religion not see abortion as the taking of an innocent life?
Florida has gained a new resident, Tom Golisano, which emphasizes the fact that citizens of highly taxed states will move. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124260067214828295.html
