Weekly Wrap-Up

Feeling Taxed Enough Already after Tax Day 2010?
You should be if you’re one of about half of Americans who actually pay income taxes.

The Tea Party tax revolt is thriving in New York.

How are your tax dollars being spent? Citizens Against Government Waste has released the 2010 Pig Book that details the almost 10,000 pork barrel earmarks in the federal budget.

Shaun-Marie posted this yesterday, but it’s worth another look today, and tomorrow even – it would take at least that long to look at all of the earmarks being funded with our tax dollars. New York is well represented thanks to Chuck Schumer’s $101,660,000 in pork spending.

Unfortunately, we’re in for even higher taxes...

Democrats in Washington – along with independent Joe Lieberman and “moderate” Republican Lindsey Graham, both of whom are so reliable on other issues – are concocting a new bill to impose a “cap-and-trade” system, which has earned the nickname “cap-and-tax.”

Liberals are starting to talk up the Value-Added Tax. Here are some facts about what that would mean for us.

Is the Internet next in line to be taxed?

If you’re sick and facing huge medical bills, your taxes are going up, thanks to ObamaCare.

That article features two additional “side effects” of ObamaCare – here are five more that the liberals would rather you not know about.

Fact is, ObamaCare is full of tax increases.

But would most members of Congress know about that? Would most of the politicians have any idea what this bill actually does? Probably not.

I think Congress should actually read the bills they pass – especially ones that seize control of a huge chunk of the U.S. economy. Take our weekly poll and give your opinion.

A New York politician is facing ethics trouble, and believe it or not I’m NOT talking about Charlie Rangel. This time it’s Rep. Gregory Meeks. According to The New York Post, “A federal grand jury has slapped Queens Rep. Gregory Meeks with a subpoena demanding records about his tax-exempt charities and what happened to their money -- including one that stiffed Hurricane Katrina victims, law-enforcement sources revealed yesterday.”

Well, tax day is over and done with for this year, so have a great weekend!
