Weekly Wrap-Up


This week, Charlie Rangel continued to put New York in the news.

Will Charlie be able to deal his way out of this?

The New York Post says it’s game over for Rangel.

But this week has also shown that there’s no shortage of questionable ethics among America’s political class.

This kind of campaigning is perhaps not unethical, strictly speaking, but it’s certainly offensive and embarrassing.

Speaking of campaigns – congratulations on your contribution to Rep. Alan Grayson’s reelection bid in Florida.

Questions are being raised about the legal and political ethics of President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee – but don’t expect Sens. Schumer or Gillibrand to be bothered by these serious charges.

Plenty of questions, too, about the Cordoba Mosque being planned for Ground Zero – specifically, where the money’s come from to build this tribute to Islam at the place where radical Islamic terrorists killed thousands of innocent people.

Rick Lazio wants to debate the issue, and is demanding that Andrew Cuomo investigate the matter, but Cuomo – who generally avoids investigations only when they’re not politically convenient for the left – stubbornly refuses to explore the matter. Sen. John Kerry’s tax dodge on his $7 million yacht has raised plenty of questions about the hypocrisy of all the leftists who support higher taxes, as well as the wisdom of those taxes.

Will defeated Democrats hold an unprecedented “lame duck” session to push through their most unpopular policies? Some sensible Republicans are trying to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Not that Democrats have much concern for the rule of law, checks and balances or the legislative process, as we can see in their new plans for a “backdoor amnesty” for illegal aliens. Here's more info on that.

The silver lining is, the Administration’s reckless pursuit of amnesty is causing some in Congress to take a look at sensible ways to discourage illegal immigration.

Kudos to Conservative Republican candidate for Attorney General, Dan Donovan, for rejecting the tainted Independence Party line!! It is not a good sign for the future when the current AG and Gubernatorial candidate, Andy Cuomo, who is trying to run on reforming the dysfunction in NYS is running on the very same line.... so how is he going to stop corruption? Hey Andy, NYS voters are too smart to fall for deception any more!

Sen. Kerry votes to increase taxes and looks for loopholes to avoid paying his share.

Will Congressman Rangle's donations in 2009 help him Thursday when the Ethics Committee formally charge him?

Wow, that is a lot of OUR money for bottle water!

Weekly Wrap-Up

Lots of ups and downs this week...

Confidence in our esteemed leaders in Congress continues to plummet. How low can it go?

And it’s hard to have much confidence in the people who run Albany...

The Working Families Party is trying to build up its image by suddenly being shocked – shocked! – to find that corruption is going on in Albany...

Constituents of Congressman Rangel are losing confidence in him...

Mayor Bloomberg is correct on this issue and we encourage you to join his battle with the Members of the Legislature...You can let us know what you think in this week’s poll question.

Our ability to trust the “mainstream” media continues to decline...

And the liberals’ latest “Recovery Summer” spending spree continues to hold down any actual economic recovery...

Which leads us to what’s on the rise this week – like jobless claims, unfortunately...

And taxes? They’re on the way up... big time.

And that’s driving up divisions among the Democrats in Washington...

And the pro-abortion lobby in Kenya is on the rise – thanks to U.S. taxpayers?

Weekly Wrap-Up

We saw lots of different people with lots of different problems this week.

Problems are on the horizon for Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats...

...but will Republicans be able to
capitalize?

Plenty of problems for the Obama Administration – from
plunging approval ratings and overall incompetence and failure to growing talk of a primary challenge from Hillary Clinton (which could put Hillary on the ticket as Vice-President in 2012, if Obama wants to keep his friends close and his enemies closer).

But as Charles Krauthammer notes, Republicans
underestimate our 44th President at their own peril.

Big problems for taxpayers if President Obama and Nancy Pelosi
erase the Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003.

And we’re looking at huge problems here in New York, with
a fiscal disaster right around the corner and no serious reforms or solutions in sight.

Should New York try to be more like
New Jersey?

And that’s just one state that elected a fiscally conservative governor and is now making progress in getting their fiscal house in order. Check out the latest from
Virginia...

But here at home,
Gov. Paterson plans to add to the problems facing New Yorkers – or at least, law-abiding New Yorkers.

According to our esteemed Attorney General of the United States, it is okay to sue Arizona for enforcing the U. S. Constitution, but it is not okay to sue sanctuary cities for NOT enforcing the U. S. Constitution. Mr. Attorney General, how did you pass the Bar exam and who taught you Constitutional Law? Didn't you take an oath to uphold the U. S. Constitution?

Weekly Wrap-up

We’re seeing more and more how Barack Obama and his crew in Washington (and his allies here in New York) have little regard for checks-and-balances, open debate, the legislative process, the consent of the governed, the rule of law – for any of America’s founding principles...

Here’s the latest in judicial activism. Andrew Cuomo is thrilled, I’m sure, but most Americans are most likely very concerned about radical policies being imposed by unaccountable judges...

And anyone who doesn’t want to have their income redistributed or be “rationed” right out of existence should be concerned about Obama’s Hugo Chavez-like
recess appointment of left-wing socialized medicine extremist and “one man death panel” Donald Berwick...

What scares you the most about Donald Berwick’s radical views? Give your opinions in our Weekly Poll.


Anyone who, like all of us at the Conservative Party, put an emphasis on protecting America’s interests have to wonder about the much-heralded “spy swap” between the U.S. and Russia. What did the U.S. get out of this? How did our nation benefit? Or was this just another example of the Obama Administration’s pathetic efforts to make other countries like us, no matter what?

Elections are for little people, the Democrats seem to be saying as they plan to
completely disregard the upcoming midterms and impose their agenda whether the American people like it or not...

And the American people
don’t like it, that’s for sure...

The President would surely blame American un-exceptionalism for the public’s unenlightened views – and besides, no matter how low his poll numbers dip,
President Obama thinks highly enough of himself to make up the difference...

And does it really matter to the president what voters think?
The Obama Administration doesn’t seem very opposed to voter intimidation – at least not when leftists are doing the intimidating...

Some intimidation of our own here in New York, as
the Paterson Administration puts whistleblowers on alert.

Weekly Wrap-Up


This week we’ve learned quite a bit about people’s priorities...

President Obama’s newest priority is amnesty for illegal aliens... with real border security serving as just another political bargaining chip.

Another focus for the President and his liberal friends: putting the best spin possible on the latest jobs report.

But recognizing the true nature of the threats facing America – that’s not so much a priority for Barack Obama and his Attorney General, Eric Holder.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a brilliant solution to the jobs crisis – unemployment checks! You have to read this to believe it...

Here in New York, Andrew Cuomo has announced that legalizing gay marriage will be his top priority if he wins this November.

Gov. Paterson – at least for right now – seems to have his priorities straight. He’s putting his veto pen to good use, rejecting the uncontrolled spending that is destroying New York.

We’re fortunate that in 1776, courageous men made it their priority to create a new nation, rooted in the idea “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”
