Kirsten Gillibrand officially became the Senator representing the far-left this week after her vote to keep funneling your tax dollars to this disgraced left-wing scandal factory.
Sen. Gillibrand was one of just seven U.S. Senators (including Bernie Sanders, the socialist from Vermont) to support ACORN. Even Chuck Schumer had the good sense to side with taxpayers on this one.
Here’s one take on this shameful vote from The New York Post: http://tinyurl.com/nsfg2r
The non-partisan watchdog group Citizens Against Government Waste is also outraged, and rightfully so. They’ve named Gillibrand and her fellow ACORN-ites the “Porkers of the Month” for September: http://tinyurl.com/n29a9q
The U.S. House voted overwhelmingly to strip ACORN of all federal funding. Who knows if this vote will mean anything – it’s completely different from the limited funding ban approved by the Senate – but at least it shows that some people in Congress are paying attention.
Again, though, many of our elected “leaders” here in New York (including, of course, Charlie Rangel, who I’m sure has a soft spot for any group that doesn’t emphasize ethics) sided with ACORN and against taxpayers.
As The Wall Street Journal says of the 75 representatives who voted for ACORN (http://tinyurl.com/lks4pd): “One can only conclude that the only way they'd defund the outfit is if it endorsed the war in Iraq or Afghanistan.”
Who is ACORN, exactly? Just before the 2008 elections, The Heritage Foundation gave us a look at ACORN’s shenanigans (http://tinyurl.com/4tcq2c). It’s worth a look now.
Don’t look for all this history in any coverage by the “mainstream” media. News liberals like Charlie Gibson are playing dumb on the ACORN question: (http://tinyurl.com/qbdwk9)
And don’t forget ACORN’s most prominent supporter: President Barack Obama (http://tinyurl.com/ysl89o):
But perhaps we shouldn’t criticize the President. After all, opposing the Obama agenda makes you violent – at least according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi: http://tinyurl.com/lhfpv2
Remember when Nancy Pelosi was pushed to the brink of tears after Democrats essentially accused President Bush of treason? When Sen. Harry Reid said our President had betrayed the nation? When President Bush was burned in effigy by anti-war protestors?
Neither do I.
At any rate, I have bad news for Speaker Pelosi. The Conservative Party will continue to “call it as we see it,” and speak out against bad ideas from President Obama – ideas like amnesty for illegal aliens. That’s on the horizon, you can be sure: (http://tinyurl.com/lcgmdr)
I hope a great weekend is on the horizon for you and your family. Visit the blog all next week for the latest news and insights from the Conservative Party, and for our newest Call to Action. .
