Wendy Long appeared on Fred Dicker's radio program this morning and Mr. Dicker describes Ms. Long as the "most articulate" of the three candidates running for the republican line that he has interviewed....and he has interviewed all three.  Click on the link above to hear the interview for yourself and you will understand why Mr. Dicker said what he did.  It begins at approximately the 29 minute mark....if you don't have time to listen to the whole program....just click on the highlighted track bar until you come to the 29 minute mark.

Michael J. Gaynor has another excellent posting on Ms. Long hereClick here to become involved in Wendy Long's campaign and help New York elect a US Senator that reflects your values.  Don't forget the Republican primary is June 26.....the Conservative Party endorsed and authorized Ms. Long to run on the Conservative Line in March.

Benefits have always been the real issue in the effort to redefine marriage and it is not going away.  I believe it will eventually be decided by the US Supreme Court and the upcoming November elections, while based on the economy, the future of our Country for years to come will be defined by decisions made by the US Supreme Court.  The decision ultimately is yours at to whom will be making recommendations for Justice of the United States Supreme Court for the next four years.

The US Senate primary is in less than four weeks and Wendy Long is confident that today's poll indicates her message resonates with New Yorkers.  Do you part to help elect a strong woman who knows what New Yorkers need by forwarding her statements to your family and friends.  The June primary is Tuesday, June 26...ask "Siri" to remind you to vote on June 26th.

Today's Morning Bell by the Heritage Foundation links to White House press secretary, Jay Carney, rambling response to a reporter's question asking to explain how President Obama can defend the failed Solyndra solar boondoggle, yet attack private sector investments that sometimes fail but oftentimes succeed.  Great question, good to watch Carney squirm and excellent analysis by Heritage.

Suburban NYC Teen Missing, family seeking help finding him.

Now on to the political news.  Hope you all had an enjoyable and safe Memorial Day weekend.  Check you yesterday's blog to see Wendy Long on NY 1 and YNN over the weekend.  Ambassador John Bolton just endorsed US Senate candidate, Wendy Long.  Among other glowing remarks, Ambassador Bolton said  “Wendy Long is superbly qualified to represent New York as a U.S. Senator and is the only candidate who can defeat Kirsten Gillibrand in November...She (Wendy Long)  also understands that a prime obligation of a U.S. Senator – particularly one from New York – is to defend the security and sovereignty of America, and that nothing, including political correctness, can stand in the way of that obligation. “  Don't forget to mark your calendar for the June 26 primary (if you will be on vacation, request an absentee ballot now before you forget) and June 17th for the only (as of now) debate.  June 17th is Father's Day so set your DVR for 7:00 PM for either YNN or NY1.

2012 Memorial Day

Thank you to all that have served in our Armed Forces.  The New York State Conservative Party Salutes all who have sacrificed so much to keep us safe.  To those who have given all, we keep you in our prayers.  Words will never be able to express how full of gratitude we are for all that our Veterans have done to keep America free.  As Abrahan Lincoln said:   America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.  Veterans protect us from the outside, only we can protect us from ourselves.  To all that served, may God grant you the inner peace wartime took from you, to all that have not served, may you truly  understand the sacrifices made by those who did.  We will never forget and always teach our children that freedom is precious and dependent on very special individuals willing to protect American values and principles.

Kudos to Chairman Michael R. Long, the Grand Marshall of the oldest continuous Memorial Day Parade in the country.

Weekly Wrap-Up

This weekend Memorial Day observances will be taking place across New York. Here are some ideas if you want to celebrate America and honor those who have given their all defending this great nation of ours.
Upstate events can be found here and here
Check here for events in and around Albany, and here for Long Island observances.
What do you admire most about the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to defend our nation?  That’s the question in our new Weekly Poll.

U.S. Senate candidate Wendy Long is joined by Montana State Senator and Former Commander at Seal Team 6 Ryan Zinke as she calls for Obama and Kirsten Gillibrand to get the politics out of war

In campaign news, it’s been a good week for Mitt Romney, who has some interesting insights in this interview with Peggy Noonan.

Not such a great week for Barack Obama, though. John Podhoretz takes a look at the “Smokescreen ofSelf-Delusion” surrounding the Obama campaign.

The left is touting thisarticle’s claims that the Obama Administration is somehow a paragon of fiscal responsibility.

Want the truth? You can find it here, here, here and here. Whew!

Amid all these claims of Obama’s fiscal restraint, we learn that his Administration is using our tax dollars as a PR slush fund to promote Obamacare. Right – no wasteful spending to see here!
As Obama goes on the attack against the evils of private equity, here is a brutal analysis of Obama’s record with “public equity” – the bailouts and cronyism that has defined his administration.

Have a great holiday weekend!

Kudos to the Heritage Foundation for today's Morning Bell.

This NY Post editorial deserves kudos also

We were opposed to "reforming" the Rockefeller Drug Laws in 2009 and stated "Our streets today, are as bad, if not worse than they were when the Legislature enacted the strictest penalties in the nation.  Today’s members of the Legislature should be focusing on protecting the innocent people not involved in the selling, trafficking and use of drugs," in our memo to the Members of the Legislature. We were right then and this op-ed reinforces the fact that (former) Governor Paterson, Speaker Silver and AG Schneiderman were misguided then and should consider repealing the reform.  We won't hold our breath.

"The more that Congress feels pressure to do something big and lasting in 2012, the more it is likely to do lasting harm to our economy and national security."  Good advice from Investors.com and they also urge voters to decided what will be best way to close the deficit, let's hope the voters understand the economics and our constitution and not rely on the rhetoric put out by the White House.

Recently (May 16) a sitting New York Supreme Court Judge wrote an opinion piece in the NY Times supporting "medical" marijuana stating that it helped him deal with the effects of his pancreatic cancer treatment.  I though it was appalling that a sitting Supreme Court Judge -- who has the responsibility to uphold the laws that he may disagree with -- try to make the case for "medical" marijuana.  There is no such thing as "medical" marijuana and I found it very interesting the the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals -- one of the most liberal Courts in America -- upheld Irvine's and Lake Forest right to ban pot dispensaries in California.  Read the article here and don't let a misguided NYS Supreme Court Judge fool you into believing that New York should enact a "medical" marijuana bill.

Weekly Wrap-Up

Most of the respondents (45%) in our weekly poll last week thought President Obama "evolved" once again on same sex marriage to change the conversation from his disastrous economic policies. Charles Krauthammer writes in his weekly column that "he is too intelligent not to realize he’s embraced a logical contradiction" by first stating it should be left up to the states and then five days later saying it is a right. President Obama is just proving what a chameleon he can be.

Senator Gillibrand is also one who changes as the wind changes, but our US Senate candidate, Wendy Long, won't let her flip-flopping on hydrofracking go unnoticed. Wendy Long knows the issues and doesn't hesitate to stand firm on her beliefs. Thanks to Michael J. Gaynor who provides a link to Wendy Long on Laura Ingram's radio show where you can judge for yourself. Or if you are in the Rochester area tonight, Wendy will be the featured speaker at the Monroe County Conservative Party Dinner.

There is a lot of activity in the skies above America this week. In Chicago fighter jets are patrolling in preparation for the NATO meeting. In Denver they are trying to determine what flew by a private corporate jet and soon we could have Drones flying all over as the FAA ruled this week that all government entities could apply for a certificate to us drones. Judge Andrew Napolitano raises his concerns about the possibility of drones in your backyard and we couldn't agree more. Let us know what you think in this week's weekly poll.

Drones may be coming to your backyard, but the secrecy as to where they will strike in the war zone is being reconsidered.

The NY Daily News Editorial puts the safety of New Yorkers first and like the NY Post editorial yesterday and today questions the thinking of Judge Scheindlin and the would be future Mayors of NYC.

Enjoy your weekend and think of some ways to annoy Senator Schumer by becoming a billionaire!

A glimmer of hope for the American Dream when the US Senate voted 99-0 yesterday to reject the President's budget says the Heritage Foundation.

Seriously, isn't it time for all elected officials to stop grabbing headlines and consider what America accomplished without all this government interference and knee-jerk reactions to every perceived problem?

The perils of raising taxes; those who create jobs move some out of state, others out of our country.

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Sen. Jim DeMint and Rep. Kevin Brady have written an excellent Op-Ed in today's Wall Street Journal and every state should heed their advice.

No one is surprised that people want to raise the minimum wage, but do they realize the consequences of raising the minimum wage? Less people hired and cost of goods go up, if the question was asked in this manner "Knowing that the costs of goods will increase and less people will be hired, do you support raising the minimum wage" would the answer be the same? Minimum wages are for entry level positions, there is government support for families who cannot find better jobs due to the government interference in the free market. Speaker Silver should be more concerned with getting government out of the way of job creation and let the entrepreneurial spirit of New Yorkers create jobs.

Speaker Silver and all elected officials should read this Op-Ed by Bernie Marcus, the co-founder of Home Depot, to understand how government is standing in the way of job creation.

They should also read the Heritage Foundation's Morning Bell that reminds us not to fear the free market.

Sen. Tom Coburn is suggesting places for President Obama to use the scalpel he can't seem to find to cut spending.

President Obama must be looking for it in the Bio's of former Presidents and while there he seems to be inserting all the good advice he has carried on in their names. And when he is not doing that, he will make you leave your cell phone at a registration desk if you are attending an event for him. Is this the reason President Obama is getting so nervous? Or maybe it is his double speak being exposed that is making the democrats nervous.

Should this be making all Americans wonder how safe we really are?

US Senate candidate, Wendy Long, is endorsed by Citizens United. Michael J. Gaynor gives us more of his insight on the U.S. Senate race here. What today's Siena Poll shows here.

The Heritage Foundation supports the Lee Plan saying in part "Lee’s plan is a strong blueprint for restraining and ultimately reducing our nation’s massive debt, cutting Washington’s out-of-control spending and above all restoring our nation’s economic prosperity. This is the only way that we can make sure future generations are not saddled with debt that keeps them from having the same opportunity of achieving the American Dream." Well, Senator Reid, will you bring his plan to the floor?

The Conservative Party is opposed to GENDA legislation also know as the "bathroom" bill. More here from Chairman Long.

The NY Post Editorial has some good advice for voters tomorrow's School District vote.

Does the President understand the irony? Probably not. He obviously thinks this is his role.

For someone who seemed to understand that overall, our state government was/is too big, why is it still growing with various new commissions etc. The WSJ examines the question.

Weekly Wrap-Up

This is what happens when you implement serious spending reforms...

This is what happens when you have a President who is completely out of touch with the American people.
I bet it’s easy to forget the bad economy when you’re hanging out in Hollywood raising money from your celebrity friends, or sending your family off on lavish vacations courtesy of U.S. taxpayers.
Obama’s recent visit to New York shows us what happens when a President is elected based on nothing but vague platitudes and fuzzy ideas... he tends to (try) to govern that way too.

This is what happens when you base your whole economic plan on soaking the “super rich” – it won’t work.
According to The Wall Street Journal, “Here's what happens when the president of the United States publicly targets a private citizen for the crime of supporting his opponent.”
And The New York Post takes a look at what happens when a major U.S. newspaper becomes a branch of the Obama campaign.
I heard that when he was 12, Mitt Romney mouthed off to his dad... can he be ever trusted???
The Washington Times discusses bad days for Barack Obama, while the New York Post takes a look at some badomens for the President (including being showed up by a prison inmate in the West Virginia presidential primary).
Is Obama’s coming out in favor of gay marriage a good thing for that particular cause? Rich Lowry says maybe not – and also has some insights into why Obama completed his “evolution” on this issue so suddenly.
Why do you think Obama has come out for same-sex marriage now? To appease his liberal base? To get people talking about something other than the economy? Vote today in our new Weekly Poll.
And have a great weekend!

The first responsibility of our government is to protect us and to provide those who protect us the best possible equipment. How can any American not believe that is governments prime responsibility? The Heritage Foundation believes our military readiness is in jeopardy, unfortunately, under this administration, there is no doubt that the Foundation is right.

US Senate candidate, Wendy Long, is endorsed by another elected official! Remember to remind your friends and family that Wendy Long needs their vote on June 26 in the republican primary. Wendy Long's reaction to the President's statement yesterday.

Sen. Tom Coburn, could use another strong voice in the Senate, after reading this, we are certain you will agree that Sen. Coburn needs more Senate Members who think like he does.

E. J. McMahon writes about what happens when government controls prices, the someone (the consumer) always pays in the end.

New York State is very generous to families making minimum wages in New York State, a family of three earning less than $34,600 is not required to pay state income taxes. Read more here.

When I listened to the President yesterday, I was struck by his remark that our Armed Forces were fighting "on my behalf", actually I was stunned by his statement. So was Elliot Abrams.

North Carolina voters defend marriage and President Obama is "disappointed". Guess he is waiting for his second term to be more flexible about his support of non-traditional marriage. BTW, when voters are given the opportunity to vote on the issue, they choose to keep the traditional definition of marriage as proven in the 31 states who gave the voters the opportunity.

The gift that keeps on giving.

Good question in today's Morning Bell from the Heritage Foundation. More on Sequestration here.

US Senate candidate, Wendy Long, is endorsed by Sen. Hugh Farley.

New York still getting "D's" in small business friendliness.

The NY Post on President Obama's visit to Albany, NY. While in Albany, NY President Obama said "Now, we know the true engine of job creation in this country is the private sector—it's not Washington,"... too bad what he said was just has campaign rhetoric to try and fool us. Latest job report is not what the President wants to acknowledge, yet it is his, the economy belongs to his administration. It's all about the numbers. Should the unemployment rate really be 8.3%? Weekly Wrap-Up

This week we met Julia – the Obama Campaign’s virtual poster girl for Big Government. You can watch the slideshow here, and marvel at the inalienable rights given to Julia by her creator, Barack Obama.

As John Podhoretz points out, the Obama campaign’s message is “that women need government programs from cradle to grave if they want to have a productive life.”

The Heritage Foundation offers “A Better Life for Julia.”

In Human Events, David Harsanyi tags the government dependence Julia represents as “implicitlyun-American, in the sense that it celebrates a mindset we have -- outwardly, at least -- shunned.”

Here’s hoping that the American people continue to shun this welfare-state liberalism on November 6th.

As you can see from this outstanding interview we posted earlier in the week, there’s a top-notch candidate for the U.S. Senate who shuns Big Government: Wendy Long, who continues to build momentum and gain support from New York conservatives.

Wendy Long spoke with National Review about her vision for “a federal government that is smaller, less intrusive, and less burdensome to Americans in their daily lives, but also more vigorous in protecting America and her interests in the world.”

She cites a number of issues where Gillibrand has gone against the interests of New Yorkers – everything from ObamaCare and abortion-on-demand to taxes and deficit spending to foreign policy and national security. Which of Gillibrand’s left-wing views do you find most objectionable? That’s the question in our new Weekly Poll. Make sure to cast your vote.

This week we also saw our President giving our enemies too much information and taking too much credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden...

... acting as “Divider-in-Chief” and continuing to campaign on the taxpayers’ dime...

...and abandoninga courageous Chinese dissident in the hopes (according to Hillary Clinton) that the Chinese Communists who placed him under house arrest in the first place will now be nice and handle his paperwork quickly so he and his family can leave the country...

Obama will need all the Julias he can conjure up to overcome his abysmal record.

Have a great weekend.

In case you missed this, US Senate candidate, Wendy Long, says no bending on taxes. LI Politics.com still has its poll on your choice for US Senate up, if you haven't voted yet, please do so now.

You don't need a crystal ball to know how New York's Senators will vote on this manifestly unfair piece of legislation, all the more reason to elect Wendy Long!

NY's Court of Appeals upholds the 63rd Senate Seat.

Kudos to Texas, alas New York is 49th, only ahead of California in this year's list of best places to do business.

Be prepared to pay more and have less people working if the Governor and the Legislature force businesses to pay a higher minimum wage. More on why raising the minimum wage is bad business from Assembly Republican Leader Brian Kolb.

Can the USPS be fixed? Heritage Foundation explains it can be, if government gets out of the way.

E. J. McMahon explains that the biggest cost in education is state mandates. Education is not the only area where state mandates are a problem, this article explains what happens when government mandates that localities provide a service and doesn't pay for it and what can be done....Constituents must speak out.

The Ninth Circuit Court gets a case right. The ultra liberal court actually dismissed Jose Padilla's civil law suit but not without a swipe at John Yoo.

But will HHS Secretary Sebelius listen?
