Can you believe it, Fannie wants more of your money again!

Looks like the pressure to answer questions re "fast and furious" may be getting to AG Eric Holder.
Does anyone believe that AG Holder will not open a full scale investigation into the NYPD, I bet he is chomping at the bit to review and pursue complaints.

Don't you feel safer now knowing that our Special Operation Forces have to do more with less?
Neither do I.

Don't expect lower gasoline prices soon. More on gasoline prices in Red State.

David S. Addington opines on Obamacare and Religious Freedom.

Profiles of courage? Seriously, this type of running away is becoming all to common. I wonder if the Assembly Democrats in NYS will run away when it comes to passing the DNA expansion bill pending that has the support of almost all law enforcement agencies and the Conservative Party.

Another reason we need pension reform. Just think of what their pensions will be.

We wholeheartedly agree with this NY Post Editorial: Time's really up, John. More on Liu's problems here.

It's not as if any of the 4 Republican Senators did not know our position on the bill, everyone knew our position. I do believe they will all face the voters without conservative endorsement. Sen. Grisanti has already lost the line, Sen. McDonald is in serious trouble with Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin seriously considering a run, and we are confident that Sen. Alesi and Senator Saland will not appear on the Conservative Party line.

Why are we not surprised by this GAO report? Obama has had three years to use that scalpel he told us about when campaigning, guess it is more important to spend time on the golf course helping his friends get lucrative deals than slimming down of a government that is too big. Maybe Michelle should slim down the government since it is important for her to try and get us to slim down.

Speaking of deals, Solyndra is back in the news again.

The Heritage Foundation has a great question...If Nobel were alive, would he take back his prize? (Is the sky blue?)

Heritage also reminds us of the broken promises in Obamacare.
And they tell us about the doom and gloom facing us with changes forthcoming in Medicare.Link

Occupiers get their funds from the 1 percenters, so the question becomes, what would they do if there were no one percenters? Why don't these one percenters just donate to the people who truly need it or to organizations that help people help themselves? Take a look at what Bernie Marcus is doing for our veterans!

This is a really disturbing article that ran in the NY Post over the weekend. Westchester County Executive, Rob Astorino , also had an article over the weekend, on rising pension costs. Comptroller DiNapoli should read this. Governor Cuomo, now is not the time to become a "Gumby".

News flash for Congresswoman Pelosi, we now know what is in it, and we still think it is a bad bill.

News flash for President Obama, the latest polls indicate Americans want to pay less in taxes and think that corporations should pay less also.

Weekly Wrap-Up

According to President Obama, we may as well forget about nominating a GOP candidate for President and the November elections, since he has announced he has five more years to pass what he promised in 2008. While he stated "we don't live in a monarchy", he certainly thinks he does at times, especially when he tramples on our First Amendment.

We experienced States joining together to fight Obamacare, now, fortunately, States are joining the fight to block the contraception mandate.

Could the US Supreme Court try to revisit the Citizens United vs FEC case? According to the Heritage Foundation, Justices Ginsberg and Breyer, who dissented, would like to take another look at the case, not a new case, just another look. As noted by the Heritage Foundation, this is a troubling trend and its implications must be considered when we cast our votes in November.

Another very troubling trend, is President Obama's apology to Islamic radicals. The Washington Times Editorial is correct in stating that "Mr. Obama should have learned by now that bowing to foreign mob violence only justifies and encourages the extremists. Counterinsurgency means never having to say you’re sorry." Let us know what you think in our weekly poll.

The President's wife is hitting the campaign trail again, and wants citizens to share the wealth, saying if a family in this country is struggling, we can not be satisfied with our own families good fortune. Interesting choice of words considering those who attended paid anywhere from $250 to $10,000 to attend.

This is not good news for the taxpayers of New York State, especially when the proposal intends to give new employees the ability to choose which plan they want. Long term savings will only be realized when government changes to a defined contribution plan. Organized labor continues to drive the issue with little regard for those who are paying the bills. Harry Wilson makes the point well here.

Raising the minimum wage makes no sense at all as Steve Malanga points out again.

Wendy Long (no relation) is beginning to make the rounds and introducing herself to political leaders and looks like a strong potential candidate for U. S. Senate.

Enjoy your weekend, with baseball and football not being played, it is a quiet sports weekend, especially since the new sports sensation, Jeremy Lin and the Knicks are not scheduled to play until Wednesday.

This Administration continues to try and fool voters by saying one headline grabbing thing while proposing an entirely different agenda in the details. Heritage Foundation explains the details in Obama's proposal to cut the corporate rate tax and like most of what he has done, the devil is in the details.

Solyndra executives score again. Interesting side note: the Judge is from Delaware and was either just reappointed for a 14 year term or is awaiting her reappointment. More from the Washington Times on the ruling.

It is really pathetic that a member of the current administration thinks like this, but wait a minute, isn't she just repeating what the President believes.

When you listen to the above, then look at this chart, you realize, if this administration isn't changed, and corporate tax rates as well as personal tax rates aren't lowered, it is only a matter of time before we become Greece. It really is unfortunate that Obama continues to reject helping Americans get out of the recession by allowing the free market to flourish. His latest proposal to triple the tax on dividends increasing it to 44.8% on top of the 35% corporate tax, will certainly put a crimp in the spending of the shareholders. But don't worry, all the people on unemployment (who are being paid with our tax dollars to do nothing) will take up the slack. More on why Obama's corporate tax rate plan is a total bust.

Obama's double talk on gasoline prices.

Seriously, these men and women in Congress are leaders? How childish to argue over what to call a bill, especially when the bill seeks to end selective abortions.

The Heritage Foundation writes about "buying" votes for unpopular legislation.

Heritage also lets us know that the State Department is promoting the debunked "Gasland" film on hydrofracking. More from Heritage on "Frack Nation".

The Daily Caller gives us some background information on the agreement reached with five banks regarding mortgage write-offs calling it a "$1.1B slush fund".

Some New York politicians are trying to sweeten New York's pension system already one of the most expensive in the Nation. Isn't it interesting that the sponsor, Assemblyman McEneny, collects his pension while still serving as an Assemblyman. Does he have any understanding of the burden this puts on taxpayers? Does he even care about the burden on taxpayers? Double-dipping has been curtailed for future members, but he and his allies" protected" their "right" to double-dip. Speaking of pensions, the Speaker does not like the Governor's proposals for a new tier. The NY Post Editorial page also weighs in on pension reform.

The NY Post Editorial writers are also not thrilled about the Speaker's desire to return to doling out member items, neither are we. And over the weekend, the NY Post also opined about the ravages of raising the minimum wage.

Which group are you in? And some that don't pay anything are sent a check under the guidelines of EITC. How much longer can this go on? Ask Greece!
Capitalism is, in part, what has made America the greatest nation in the world, and its time all Americans understand. Capitalism can and must survive.

Not surprised by this headline, obviously this administration learned nothing from history. This does not bring any hope for those who have lost their jobs and are unable to find new ones because the government and not free markets is driving the economy.

This will make for an interesting election cycle, wonder when we will know where the lines will be.

Just when you think Governor Cuomo really understands the financial problems in our state, he proposes this.

Kudos to Sean Hanna! How much support do you think he will he get from fellow legislators?

Jeff Bell on Rick Santorum. William McGurn also. No matter who you support in the presidential primaries, these articles are well worth the read. Then read this to understand how tilted the current administration really is.

Weekly Wrap-Up

President Obama introduced his budget this week, and it made for a happy Valentine’s Day for huge deficits, soaring debt and massive tax hikes – all of which got plenty of love from the Obama Administration.

“To infinity and beyond” says the American Enterprise Institute of America’s debt future, with a chart to back it up.

Thank goodness we have Rep. Paul Ryan on our side to call out the Obama Administration’s lack of leadership. Can we get more like him? (Can we get him in the White House eventually?)

The Washington Times takes on the important task of explaining why the “economic recovery” we’re hearing so much about – which is said to be driving a political recovery for Obama – is not really all it’s cracked up to be. Here is their view of it:

“What we have are problems with the real economy. America has a large and climbing fiscal deficit, an environment rife with regulatory uncertainty and an ever-increasing red-tape burden. President Obama’s budget proposes tax increases to go along with the higher rates that will kick in with the expiration of George W. Bush’s tax cuts. All of these burdens drag down private-sector investment and job creation.”

The Heritage Foundation weighs in on this matter as well with a straightforward observation: “Obamanomics has failed.”

Since Obama unleashed his new budget the day before Valentine’s, I’ll ask you this: What are your feelings towards the Obama budget? Do you love it? Or are you just not that into it? Vote today in our new Weekly Poll.

Another important issue being discussed this week: Obama’s continued gutting of America’s national security. Specifically, as the Washington Times notes, “President Obama is working to realize the leftist dream of unilateral nuclear disarmament.”

The Washington Examiner also critiques Obama’s “dangerous folly” and what it means for America’s security.

Now how about some good news?

New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan will become a cardinal this weekend. Our very own George Marlin – who literally wrote the book on the political impact of American Catholic voters – explores the history of New York archbishops who “refused to compromise their religious principles,” and shows us how Archbishop Dolan is “part of “a long line of fighters.”

Have a great weekend.

American spending is helping China do this, while our President does this? Very disturbing and must be remembered in November.

Freedom Works opines on the birth control mandate while National Review's Kathryn Jean Lopez has an excellent interview with Teresa Tomeo, a self proclaimed "former libber and secular journalist" on Obama's mandate. Well worth the read, especially if you have "libber" friends! Don't forget to contact Senator Gillibrand and Senator Schumer and urge them to support Senator Rubio's bill.

E. J. McMahon makes the case, again, for pension reform. Does anyone know of SUNY employees eager to change the system they have?

The Assembly must be drinking the Kool Aid distributed by the Occupiers if they think this has a snowballs chance of passing.

Time to call it quits Comptroller Liu.

Analysis of the President's budget by Heritage Foundation. You won't be surprised by his adding almost $3 trillion in debt and raising taxes but leaving most of the pending fiscal disaster to the future. Even Jack Lew, (the presidents COS) appearing on yesterday's talk shows could not help his boss. Reuters reporting you will pay for TSA patdowns.

Tucker Carlson on Media Matters agenda.... eye opening analysis of the relationship with the White House. He will have more this week and we will continue to follow the "dots"....

Do you like numbers? Here is an article on just how in debt we are personally. Thanks to Michael Haltman for posting.

George Marlin opines on the HHS mandate. (Don't forget to vote in our poll.) The President's move to "compromise" is not acceptable. The Weekly Standard Blog writes that "more than 100 university professors, journalists, and think tank scholars signed a letter that explains why Obama's "accommodation" is nothing more than a "cheap accounting trick" and what soon to be Cardinal Dolan thinks of it.

One of NY's up and coming Representatives in Congress, Ann Marie Buerkle, was a featured speaker at CPAC and in this clip explains some of the problems of living in NY.

More borrowing by state and local government will be allowed if the Governor's budget passes as is according to this article. The Governor's office protest too much for it not to be true.

Some NY Lawmakers understand the risk of raising the minimum wage in New York.

If this passes, and it certainly should not, look for more people to leave New York. We can not afford any more pension benefits!

Let's hope everyone understands the problems with the Judges' ruling and can reach a reasonable settlement on when/how many primaries will take place in New York. More here.

Weekly Wrap-Up

Greetings from CPAC! We're in Washington for this annual conservative conference, and it's an exciting place to be.

People I've talked to are concerned about the GOP primary, for sure – and of course, everyone is waiting to hear what Mitt Romney has to say today – but there's a lot of optimism here that we can beat Obama in November.

The Washington Times has special CPAC coverage that's updated frequently.

So far at CPAC, we've heard from Sens. Jim DeMint and Marco Rubio, and former candidates Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry.

A big topic up for discussion here at CPAC this weekend is President Obama’s trampling of religious freedom with his ObamaCare contraception mandates.

Here are two takes on the issue this morning: Representatives of three faiths writing in The Wall Street Journal, and some blistering analysis from Charles Krauthammer.

We’re hearing reports now that the Obama Administration is ready to compromise on this with some “accommodation” for religious groups – but if you ask me, religious liberty is NOT something to be “accommodated,” it’s something that must be respected, first and foremost.

What do you think? Is President Obama’s (mis)treatment of this issue further proof that he doesn’t care that much about the Constitution and freedom of religion? Give your views today in our new Weekly Poll.

You’ll be seeing plenty of CPAC coverage on the news this weekend. Have a great one!
